The Water Damage Restoration Process

Water Restoration

There are many unique situations when it comes to water damage. From the way it occurs to the severity and location of the damage. Water damage is always a serious concern, though. Whether your home receives damage from a storm or a leaking pipe, you should always try to react as soon as possible. It’s easy to think a disaster such as flooding can’t happen to you.

However, the reality of the situation is that millions of homes in the United States are at risk of flooding. After water damage comes the water restoration process. At United Water Restoration, we understand that this process can be difficult to navigate. Your home is a bastion of solace. It’s a place that can feel uniquely yours and water damage poses a very real and serious concern for that.

With the water restoration process likely being new to you, we wanted to go into detail about our step-by-step process. We want to help you better understand and feel more comfortable and confident in the process.

Step 1: Emergency Contact

The first step to any water restoration process is going to be emergency contact. At United Water Restoration, our hotline is open 24/7 to help you start this process. Within minutes of contacting our hotline, (800) 430-5838, you will be placed in direct contact with one of our professional, certified technicians.

During this call our technician will do their best to assess your situation over the phone. They will ultimately schedule an appointment that fits the needs of your schedule. At United Water Restoration we also offer water loss remote visuals for your convenience to help better determine your issue.

Step 2: Inspection and Assessment

The next step of the water restoration process has our technicians at your home. This will give them the ability to inspect and assess. Our technicians will be there to inspect the affected areas and determine the overall source of the problem. This part of the water restoration process is to give every party involved a better understanding of the damage.

Our technicians are always willing to go over the analysis and assessment fully. This is to help you fully understand what needs to be done.

Step 3: Water Removal and Mitigation

After one of our technicians is able to fully assess your home’s damage and affected areas we schedule an appointment to come back in full force to eliminate the problem. During this step of the water restoration process we bring in our industrial equipment such as submersible water pumps (depending on severity) and water-proof vacuums. These powerful tools can pump hundreds of thousands of gallons of water out of any home to help prevent mold and further damage to your home.

Our technicians will be with you every step of the process. At United Water Restoration we pride ourselves on our customer service, you and your home’s health are of the utmost importance to us. This is why our technicians are always willing to go through every step of the water restoration process with you. We are here to answer any and all questions that may help you feel more comfortable and navigate our services.

Step 4: Dehumidifying and Drying

After our technicians remove the bulk of the water from the room using our industrial equipment, we begin the process of drying and dehumidifying the affected areas. While the water may be gone, the concern for certain things in the home is still very present. After flooding or water damage mold becomes a genuine concern.

Mold can take as little as 24 hours to grow and spread throughout the affected areas. The only thing mold needs to thrive and survive is oxygen, moisture, and organic material, such as rugs, furniture, paper products, and many other things that are present in the average home.

During this step of the water restoration process we want to remove moisture from the air as well as beginning to fully dry the affected areas. Our industrial humidifiers are set typically in the middle of the room. These tools help prevent the affected areas from swelling or becoming warped.

Step 5: Sanitizing the Room

After the room is dry and our dehumidifier has removed most moisture, our technicians can begin the cleaning and sanitization step of our process. During this step of water restoration, we seek to clean affected materials such as furniture, rugs, clothing, and other personal items.

As we clean the affected areas our technicians begin to sanitize the room with antimicrobial treatments that prevent any microorganisms, such as fungi, from growing in the room. We also utilize air scrubbers fogging equipment to help eliminate the smell of stagnant water from the room.

Step 6: Restoration

The final part of the water restoration process is the restoration of your home. This step has the goal of bringing your home entirely back to normal. At United Water Restoration, our technicians are professionally certified and equipped to do minor or major restorations on your home. This can include something as minor as replacing a drywall to as major as replacing flooring and walls. Water damage can vary in severity, so it can be hard to tell just how much damage has been dealt until the last few steps of the water restoration process.

However, with United Water Restoration, you can rest assured that we will get the job done and bring your home back to normal.
