Mold is a fungus which often doesn’t cause problems. However, when mold spores land on damp patches in your property, they grow. And as the spores multiply, they can leave visible stains around your home. These patches are often green, black, blue, or brown in color.
Over time, mold growth causes a musty smell, discoloration and, in some cases, skin, eye, and breathing irritation. People with mold allergies are especially vulnerable to health issues.
Mold Removal vs. Mold Remediation
Although mold removal and mold remediation sound similar, they are different processes!
Mold removal means removing visible mold growth. However, mold remediation is more thorough – and effective. It involves, first, finding and fixing the source of the dampness.
Then, the mold is removed, and the area is disinfected. This helps to prevent the mold returning.
Mold removal may be suitable in some cases. However, mold remediation is generally more effective unless the problem is very minor.
